Day Trading Futures
Day trading futures is the technique of buying and selling futures contracts within a 24 hour period. Day trades can last for just a few minutes or throughout the trading session. Open positions are not held overnight with day trading futures.
Since no positions are held overnight when day trading futures there are no unexpected losses while you sleep and startling events occur around the world. This is one advantage of day trading. Another advantage is that a great deal about the market can be learned by the trader in a short time period. Day Traders usually trade two or three times and sometime more per day compared to position traders who may only make one or two trades per week.
Day trading requires a great deal of discipline and knowledge and is not recommended for beginning traders. Commissions can also add up quickly in trading futures and this is something to bear in mind if you are considering this trading method. Day trading is not for everybody.
